THE INAUGURAL GSK-SINGAPORE PARTNERSHIP FOR GREEN AND SUSTAINABLE MANUFACTURING (GSM) SYMPOSIUM 2011

From July 6th-7th GSK and the Singapore EDB hosted the inaugural GSK Singapore Partnership for Green and Sustainable Manufacturing (GSM) symposium at Fusionopolis. It was an informative two days with 16 presentations from both academic and industrial researchers and an evening poster session.

The event brought together; Singapore’s scientific community, the Industry Advisory Group (IAG) comprising company representatives from industry, such as Codexis, Unilever, DuPont and BASF, and also the Trust Funds global Scientific Advisory Board.

OOne of the highlights of the symposium was the announcement of the successful applicants in the second round of funding, with approximately S$8 million in funds being offered to fourteen principal investigators who will be conducting research in the areas of chemical-, physical- and bio-transformations, facilities and supply chain management, equipment and technical operations, life cycle assessment, and solvent selection and optimisation.
